Preparations for Penarth’s first Local Food Festival are well underway with over thirty confirmed stalls offering a tasty selection of local food and drink.
The festival, organised by Gwyrddio Penarth Greening, is taking place in the Kymin on July 17th from 11am to 3pm. Read on for a full list of stalls and activities on offer.
The organisers have been delighted by the number and variety of local producers, suppliers and retailers that have signed up for the event.
Stalls include local bakeries, honey products, handmade gourmet chocolates, local cheese and wines and much, nuch more.
There will be a wide variety of entertainment and activities for all ages, cooking and bee-keeping demos and even a pedal-powered smoothie maker.
Promoting awareness and the use of local producers and suppliers is a key issue for GPG. The organisers hope that the festival will build on the success of the Shop in Penarth loyalty card scheme and make more people aware of the vast range and quality of produce available on their doorstep.
“We are really excited about Penarth’s first food festival.” said festival organiser Susannah McWilliam. “It will be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate and showcase local growers, suppliers and producers and a chance to enjoy fresh and tasty produce. Local food is about supporting the local economy, lowering food miles and creating healthy sustainable communities. So come along and enjoy the celebration.”
