GPG at National Eisteddfod

Gwyrddio Penarth Greening were very pleased to take part in the National Eisteddfod last week. The group had a stall on the Vale Council for Voluntary Services stand which we used to promote the Shop in Penarth scheme and other GPG activities.
A small group of volunteers distributed Welsh language copies of the ‘Siopa Penarth’ leaflet; other GPG material in both Welsh and English was also available. Visitors to the stall commented very favourably on the SiP leaflet, many were impressed by the range and variety of local businesses in the scheme.
Tricia Griffiths, one of the GPG volunteers said ‘Being at the Eisteddfod gave us a great opportunity to encourage more people to join our SiP scheme, shop in our wide variety of shops in Penarth, and benefit from some of the offers available to those who possess a SiP card.’
GPG believes that support for Penarth’s local shops is essential in maintaining a strong local economy, and through the SiP scheme it also aims to raise awareness about the amount of energy expended in shopping out of town.
GPG would like to remind shoppers to ask if they are one of the monthly SiP voucher winners when shopping in a SiP shop. This month there are two £20 vouchers to be won in addition to the usual £10 vouchers.
The Welsh language material produced for the Eisteddfod will soon be available on the GPG website.
