Gwyrddio Penarth Greening will once again be hosting the ever popular Penarth Local Food Festival this summer. This year’s Festival will take place on Sunday July 21st from 11am to 4pm. Once again the location will be The Kymin House and Grounds on Beach Road, an ideal location with stunning views across the Bristol Channel.
The Festival has fast become one of Penarth’s summer highlights and provides a unique showcase for the best of local produce and local food businesses. This year’s mouth watering line up of stalls includes all the regular favourites plus a few tasty new additions.
Visitors will be able to sample and buy a wide range of fresh local produce such as Welsh cheeses, breads, preserves, Welsh honey, local beers, locally grown herbs and much more. There will also be a wide variety of hot food on offer including the very popular Glam Lamb burgers, a fish grill from the Fig Tree, vegetarian treats from Hamptons and the Parsnipship as well as a selection of tapas from festival first timers Bar 44.
In addition to enjoying the tasty food and drink on offer visitors will be able to relax and enjoy a selection of acoustic music acts while children will be catered for with a dedicated kids craft tent that this year explores the natural world of butterflies.
For GPG the festival provide an important opportunity to raise awareness of sustainable and environmental food issues and to highlight other GPG community projects. It is also an important showcase for the GPG ‘Shop in Penarth’ scheme that promotes local independent businesses and highlights their importance to the local economy. Many of these local businesses have kindly donated some very generous prizes to this year’s Food Festival raffle.
So come down to the Kymin on July 21st for an enjoyable celebration of the local and sustainable, a chance to support the local economy and sample some wonderful food.
