Penarth 2020

On Thursday 30 January 2020 GPG organised a successful community event – Penarth 2020.

Almost 100 people attended to discuss ideas for how we can address the climate emergency at a local level.

We discussed lots of ideas for positive local action, focusing on what we can do in Penarth, and what our priorities should be to tackle the environmental challenges we face.

Representative from Penarth Youth Action highlighted how important it is to engage with young people and how PYA are focussing on environmental issues.

Key themes emerging during the evening included developing:

  • A Green Directory for Penarth
  • A Library of Things (eg Benthyg)
  • Community renewable energy projects
  • Community planting/ gardening / growing (eg Share Cardiff), edible Penarth, extend community orchard and explore tree planting space

As well as interest in topics such as reusing, recycling, waste, travel and local food.
