Growing Spaces
The promotion of Community Garden schemes and the sharing of horticultural skills and knowledge are key aims for GPG. There are obvious environmental, social and health benefits of encouraging communities to grow their own food. But community green spaces also have an important role in providing wildlife havens, helping to maintain local biodiversity and providing a space for people to get together to play, chat and relax.

GPG have planted a Community Orchard at Cosmeston Lakes Nature Park and are involved in the planning stages of several planned community gardens around Penarth. We have also launched a Plotshare scheme to bring together people with spare or unused garden space with others keen for somewhere to grow.
